Gemeente Den Haag

Do you have more than 2 years of experience as a Service Designer with a solid foundation in research / UX research? Then we are looking for you!

3 reasons why this is for you:

  • Because design thinking is in your DNA – Step-by-step working from insight to innovation and impact is second nature.
  • Because you want to make a social impact with your design thinking skills. Think of relevant issues surrounding energy transition, youth care, SME services, or poverty facilities.
  • Because you want to grow and you are looking for a place where guts, ambition, and initiative are valued.

What are you going to do?
As a Service Designer, you have an important role in our ambition: excellent municipal services from the perspective of residents and entrepreneurs. Together with your colleagues from the Innovation & Services (iD) team, you increase the social impact of this and set a new, higher standard for the experiences of residents of The Hague and entrepreneurs with the municipality.
You take colleagues and clients along in working on the basis of an insight, innovation, and impact and you are versatile. You work on major design assignments, but you also independently carry out specific research (eg usability research or testing communications). Your daily practice is diverse and consists of guiding workshops, conducting user research, creating concepts, and using methodologies such as context mapping, personas, customer journey mapping, and service blueprints. With your enthusiasm and expertise, you advise and convince stakeholders and colleagues about how to improve services. You listen to the question behind the question, come up with project approaches and summarize this in sharp proposals. A challenging role with a lot of influence on the value of the municipality for The Hague.
Projects that you work on together with colleagues from the team relate to a variety of themes, such as energy transition or youth care to services to entrepreneurs in The Hague, and vary from clear research assignments to large complex assignments.

What do we ask for?

We are looking for a Service Designer who goes for people-oriented innovation of municipal services.You know how to gain confidence and achieve concrete results in the processes you are working on.You also have the guts to sometimes deviate from the beaten track in your approach.

Further:

  • you have a university master’s degree with at least 2 years of all-round experience in the service design domain.A solid research base in combination with experience in the development of new propositions is an advantage.
  • are you used to working on multiple topics or projects at the same time, independently conducting user research, setting up workshops, and implementing improvements;
  • you have an open and entrepreneurial attitude with which you can easily express yourself without wanting to be dominant. You actively involve colleagues and stakeholders in your work and you communicate actively and crystal clear – both in person and in writing. You also work systematically, set your priorities and you have an excellent sense of humor .

What do we offer?

You will be set up in a team and you will have plenty of room for your own initiative and to think along. Everything happens in a pleasant working atmosphere and an open culture. Your working environment is easily accessible by public transport and the beach is always nearby, but we also give you the opportunity to work from home.
Depending on your background and (work) experience, we offer you:

  • an employment contract for one year, which we then gladly convert (if functioning properly) into a permanent employment contract (unless you are permanently employed by the municipality of The Hague or in connection with the chain provision);
  • a maximum salary of € 5,169 gross per month based on a full (36-hour) working week (scale 11, wages as of 1 October 2020);
  • a 36-hour working week and the space to build up compensation leave.

You can also count on an excellent package of benefits, such as:

  • excellent training and development opportunities;
  • inclusion in the ABP pension fund;
  • a monthly contribution to health insurance;
  • an Individual Choice Budget (IKB) worth 17.05% on top of your salary, which you can use for, for example; extra leave, salary, or membership of the gym located in the town hall.
