As a service designer you play an important role in our ambition: excellent municipal services from the perspective of residents and entrepreneurs. Together with your colleagues from the Innovation & Services (iD) team, you increase its social impact and set a new, higher standard for the experiences of The Hague residents and entrepreneurs with the municipality.

With your knowledge of organizational and cultural change you take colleagues and clients with you in working on the basis of insight, innovation and impact and you are creative in your approach. Your daily practice is diverse and consists of guiding workshops, conducting research, designing concepts and using methodologies such as context mapping, personas, customer journey mapping and service blueprints. With your enthusiasm and expertise you advise and convince stakeholders and colleagues about how to improve the service. You listen to the question behind the question, devise project approaches and summarize this in sharp proposals. You not only provide advice, but you also have the drive to make a difference through the translation into experiments and the implementation of the results. You use your organizational and political sensitivity to activate your stakeholders and build lasting relationships. A challenging role with a lot of influence on the value of the municipality for The Hague.

Projects that you work on together with colleagues from the team relate to various themes, such as energy transition, youth care or services to entrepreneurs in The Hague. The scope varies from gathering insights and translating them into customer journeys to complex strategic assignments.

What do we ask?

We are looking for a service designer who is committed to people-oriented innovation in municipal services. In the processes you work on, you know how to gain trust and achieve concrete results. You also have the guts to sometimes deviate from the beaten track in your approach.

In addition, you have:

  • A university master with more than 3 years of experience in the service design domain; Experience with journey management is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience to work on multiple projects at the same time, to independently guide design processes, to set up workshops and to implement improvements with the organization;
  • An open and enterprising attitude with which you can easily come out, without wanting to be dominant. You actively involve colleagues and stakeholders in your work and you communicate actively and crystal clear – both in person and in writing. You also work systematically, you set your priorities and you have an excellent sense of humor.
