Service Designer

You ensure that the products and services we develop meet the needs of our customers and make them user-friendly and relevant. You can conduct research as well as shape concepts. You work in a small team with a strong focus on one or two propositions, together with an experiment designer and a proposition lead. In your team you work from opportunity area to a proposition concept and through research you test whether the idea is successful. So you are at the beginning of the creative process to develop a completely new proposition. You have the mindset of a team player and the interest in being involved in the entire development process. You contribute within the team to take service design to a higher level and enjoy sharing everything you have learned. Only together can we take the next step in energy. As a Service Designer, you are the expert in your field when:

• Exploring new opportunities and possibilities in the (energy) market.
• Qualitatively and quantitatively research and understand the target group, including pains, gains and ‘jobs to be done’.
• Forming ideas, input and visualizations for innovative propositions.
• Developing the customer journey via user flows and first concepts for testing new ideas.
• Iterating promising design solutions based on customer insights.
• Convincingly presenting your creations and insights.
• Developing and facilitating (internal) workshops and interactive sessions.

You will work in the Research & Proposition Development team. The team within Essent that is involved in innovation around energy and sustainability for Essent, Energiedirect.nl and Essent business. This team works through design thinking, lean start-up principles and benchmarked innovation processes. An agile working method allows for quick and flexible switching and development. With researchers in our team, all insights are close at hand. Openness, drive, creativity and fun are central.

• 3-5 years of experience in Service Design or a related field.
• Demonstrable experience with user studies, both at the front end of the innovation process and with more defined concepts.
• You can develop creative ideas into strong visual concepts, your portfolio shows this.
• Proficient with design tools, e.g. Sketch / Invision / Figma.

You are also a proactive go-getter with a strong dose of creativity and solution-orientedness. You have good (visual) communication skills and are able to include colleagues in your findings.
