Senior Service Designer

Description

We are seeking an experienced service designer for an exciting consultancy assignment with the Norwegian Public Roads Administration (Statens vegvesen), focusing on insight and needs mapping related to “Digital Neighbor Contact.”

In this role, you will work to understand and improve how the agency communicates with neighbors and affected stakeholders during both the planning and construction phases of major development projects. The work involves mapping the current situation, identifying needs and challenges, and contributing to the development of holistic, user-friendly solutions—both digitally and organizationally.

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team and play a central role in establishing a solid foundation of insights that will guide further development and prioritization.

Success in the role means being able to translate complex insights into concrete recommendations and actions that deliver real value for both users and the organization.

Responsibilities

• Plan and carry out insight work using qualitative methods such as interviews, workshops, and observation
• Map user journeys and existing work processes across roles, systems, and channels
• Identify user needs, pain points, and opportunities for improvement
• Structure and simplify complex information and communication flows
• Develop concepts and sketches that illustrate possible improvements
• Compile insights into clear deliverables with recommendations and prioritized actions
• Present findings and insights in an understandable and engaging way to different stakeholders
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams and relevant professional environments

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a service designer or in a similar role
• Experience with insight work and mapping complex user journeys
• Strong competence in qualitative methods (interviews, workshops, analysis)
• Ability to structure insights and translate them into concepts and solutions
• Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and with multiple stakeholders
• Strong communication skills, both visual and verbal
• Ability to make complex issues understandable and manageable
• Experience from the public sector is an advantage, but not required
