In this role, you have the opportunity

to be part of an international design team and play an important role in shaping the growing design consulting practice in North America. By bringing your design thinking and user-centered approach into the commercial arena you will support the growth of the company and help to further transform and improve Healthcare through customer engagements.

You are responsible for

  • Creating high-quality Service Design deliverables in support of the North American Market organization
  • Supporting initiatives with internal business/sales teams along w/external customers
  • Building a deep understanding of business and user needs to inform your work
  • Generating innovative and relevant concepts and impactful service solutions
  • Working with teams to define digital interactions within a service, as well as applying systems-level service design skills as a capability within various programs

To be successful in this role you should be able to demonstrate:

Service development skills:

  • You use appropriate and effective service development skills to articulate simplicity across services, supporting business needs and increasing NPS.
  • You develop service blueprints that integrate user needs analysis (i.e. experience flow), multiple media touch points and back-end service delivery systems.
  • You are a ‘systems thinker’ and can help direct complex business strategy programs and projects through use of deep business knowledge & design thinking methods.

Visual design skills:

  • You use appropriate and effective visual design skills to articulate simplicity across interaction & interface, supporting business needs and increasing user satisfaction.
  • You develop and use appropriate visualization skills (sketching, prototyping and specification) to define and communicate interaction concepts.
  • You create effective and appropriate visual tools by understanding the meaning and effect of these on the brand, audience, market and culture.

Communicating & influencing skills

  • You use communication & influencing skills to build relationships with teams and key decision makers and achieve the best solutions.
  • You have strong facilitation skills, and are comfortable in a consulting environment with exec-level participants – quickly visualizing/diagramming ideas to drive teams forward
  •  You communicate ideas clearly and persuasively at an individual and group level to your direct team members, suppliers and business contacts. You develop/adapt the right communication style and influencing tools.

You will be a part of

The Strategic Design consulting team, a multi-disciplinary team working with hospitals and health systems across the healthcare continuum to improve patient and staff outcomes and experiences.

The Philips Design global creative force of some 400+ professionals is located in our Design studios in Europe, North America and Asia.  You will be part of an amazing cross-disciplinary team that includes architects & interior designers, product design, interaction design, service design, people research, communication design, and project management. As part of the Cambridge team, you will be co-located with product managers, R&D scientists and business leaders defining the future of many of Philips’ businesses.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • You have a Bachelors or Masters degree in Service, Industrial, UX/UI or Architectural Design
  • You have 3+ years relevant service design experience in a specific business domain
  • Preferably, you have 3+ years relevant experience in UX/UI and interaction design
  • You have worked in a consulting organization and/or professional services environment
  • You have knowledge and passion around organizational design and design strategy
  • You are comfortable facilitating workshops and ongoing engagements with internal and external executive-level participants in a confident, productive manner
  • You are recognized for your expertise and talent in service design and for your specific competency knowledge and capability.
  • You are passionate about healthcare experiences and delivery
