You’ll be involved with reviewing some of the tactical problems that the company is facing in delivering its products to the market.  These could originate from problems our customers experience or from challenges with internal operations, but once an opportunity for improvement is identified you’ll be expected to design and deliver solutions largely autonomously, but with support and direction from your team as required.

You’ll do this by developing a strong understanding of the needs of our customers, as well as both technical and business stakeholders, building strong relationships throughout the company that will help you gather the information you need, manage customer expectations, and ultimately be able to share complex information effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders at all levels.

Having developed a good understanding of the problem and its impact, as well as clearly understanding where there may be limitations in the solutions that you can provide, working with colleagues in other areas of the business, you will be expected to build and create a variety of different solutions that can be tested and implemented/delivered.

Despite potentially being presented with large amounts of conflicting information, you’ll produce simple and effective solutions and be able to articulate their impact to senior stakeholders to gain commitment to making the changes you propose.

As a senior member of the team we also want to draw on your experience to help shape how the Design function develops and grows and you will be able to share your knowledge and experience of your discipline with others, including specific tools and techniques.

What you’re great at

  • You have and intense curiosity about people and their problems and a real desire to understand users, clients, and stakeholders through qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
  • You can work with stakeholders to define, prioritise, and focus on the requirements of business problems.
  • You understand how to balance the needs of the user with the needs of the business.
  • You can explore multiple solutions for a given problem through design exploration, mock-ups, prototypes, visualisations, and storyboards to test your ideas and communicate them internally and externally.
  • Prototyping and Usability testing (ideally in Figma, Maze).
  • You have industry experience working either as a Service Designer or in a relevant alternative role; experience should involve using design to solve problems
  • Experience working in digital transformation would be helpful
  • You understand and have experience of a range of user-centred and agile practices
