Senior Service Designer

The day job
A great opportunity for a Senior Service Designer to join the team here at Sopra Steria.

As a Senior Service Designer at Sopra Steria, you will lead our service design activities on projects, whilst mentoring colleagues and clients on the tools and approaches we use.

You will report into the Service Design Lead and work closely with the other disciplines in our teams to support a rich, collaborative team environment both on and off project.

Our design team supports public sector organisations to deliver simple, accessible, and satisfying services to people living across the UK and beyond.

Our team consists of user-centred practitioners – from User Research to UI Development – who are committed to ensuring that the work we do contributes to a better future for everyone.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead the Service Design activities on project, mentoring colleagues and clients on our tools and approach
• Reflect on and improve our Service Design discipline, shaping the tools and approaches we use on a regular basis
• Be an active member of the design team, supporting the wellbeing and development of its members, and contributing to its strategic growth and direction Contribute to the creation of case studies, tender responses and client proposals, to help showcase the team and bring new work in.

Required skills
You need to have:

We would love to hear from a wide range of people who can demonstrate some, or all, of the following skills and experience:

• Leading service design projects and teams
• Undertaking design research activities, alongside other disciplines such as user research
• Undertaking a key role on multi-disciplinary teams, buoying people’s energy and holding a vision of the service for the team and the client
• Planning and facilitating workshops, in-person and remotely, that are accessible and inclusive
• Working with clients to establish strong relationships, ensuring our work is meeting their expectations

It would be great if you had:

• Working in an Agile environment in government, ensuring our work meets relevant service standards and reflects the stage of the project (discovery, alpha, beta, live)
• Communicate effectively across organisational, technical and political boundaries, understanding the context of each
• Contribute to the development of the wider organisation’s growth and strategic direction
• Demonstrable experience of your passion for design, i.e. writing blogs within relevant communities
