Job description

Service designers design the end-to-end journey of service. This helps a user complete their goal and deliver a policy or health system intent. In this role, your work may involve the creation of, or change to, transactions, products and content across both digital and offline channels provided by different parts of government, as well as the health and care system. You will help teams ensure the user is at the heart of what we do and supporting effective digital delivery across NHSX and the wider health and care system.

Responsibilities

This is a leadership role. A lead service designer is an expert practitioner who influences and mentors others. At this level, you will be expected to:

? Work with service owners and programme directors to develop design concepts
? Set direction, assure the quality of design delivery across teams and lead multiple or highly complex services
? Ensure that teams take a user-centred, evidence-based approach to service design and delivery.
? Develop and assure excellent service design practice and guidance across the Digital Transformation Team’s work and NHSX more widely.
? Manage and recruit user research staff (permanent and contract) for the products and services on which they work. Supervise and develop other user researchers to assure and improve user research practice. You will be expected to supervise, line manage or mentor other members of staff.
? Deal with a wide range of stakeholders with diplomacy and the capability to define and deliver appropriate design deliverables.
? Foster and build capability for user centred design across the health and care system.
? Run and lead design workshops
