Jr. Service & UX Designer

Forty
What does a Service & UX Designer do at Forty?
Working at Forty means working in a variety of ways. In this case, that means not only that the content of your work differs per type of customer or assignment, but also that you wear the hat of Service Designer as well as that of UX Designer, depending on the (phase of) your project. We combine interview and journey mapping with wireframing and prototyping. So two roles in one! Where the two roles overlap a lot is that you are almost always concerned with finding out the needs of the target group. You translate complex information and situations into concrete insights. You then use these to devise, design and test (digital) touchpoints together with customers.
Of course you don’t make beautiful work alone! You work together with Strategists, Service Designers, UX Designers, Visual Designers, Copywriters, Developers, Producers and customers. And that’s not the only thing, because on Forty Friday we all work on the company. You do this by working in teams on different aspects of the company, such as People (HR), Sales or Marketing. But also by helping to build our own initiatives, such as the Forty Hub. Of course we end the week with a drink in our ‘living room’ or on the roof in the sun, if possible.
What we are looking for
As a junior Service & UX Designer you were born curious and you like to roll up your sleeves. You can deal well with different stakeholders and you like to think in terms of solutions. You also enjoy studying user behaviour, for example by interviewing, observing or issuing questionnaires. You don’t shy away from a challenge, but you cheer. As the process progresses, more frames are created. This is where your UX skills and eye for detail come in handy. Finally, you believe in what you make and you can convey that well through your presentation skills and clear way of communicating.
your knowledge
- You have 0 to 2 years of experience as a UX and/or Service Designer. Preferably gained at a digital (or innovation) agency or startup.
- You have completed a relevant education (for example Industrial Design, Design for Interaction, Multimedia Design or Digital Design).
- You speak and write Dutch and English fluently.
- You have experience in creating prototypes, wireframes, proof-of-concept documents, user flows, use cases, use scenarios, roadmaps and journeys. You also master various programs to work out your ideas (think of Sketch, Figma and Illustrator).
- The Lean Startup & Design Thinking principles are familiar to you. This allows you to create work that you can experiment with.
