Information Service Designer, Senior level – Immediate Opening
Full-time Position
Zenda’s designers are consulting partners to the business and technology leaders of our client organizations. We are looking for a strong visual designer with excellent communication and consulting skills. This individual will lead the creation of complex visual models of work – translating detailed descriptions of business operations into rich, visual narratives. Information design capabilities and strong typographic skills are critical. This position offers the right candidate an opportunity to see inside the most sensitive operational areas of the world’s largest companies, creating visual explanations of these environments that deliver insights, encourage discovery and reveal opportunities for our clients. This is unique, important and impactful work for designers. This designer must be able to assume the role of client engagement lead and will report to the Chief Design Officer.
SKILLS and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ability to quickly learn and understand client business, performing in-context design research when necessary.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
- Workshop design and execution
- Strong ability to identify and communicate a client’s “story”
- Familiarity with rapid prototyping tools
- Exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail
- Excellent layout and typography skills
- Work with clients on and off site effectively building professional relationships with colleagues and clients, clearly articulating complexities of project work to client
Project work includes:
- Creation of complex visual models
- Translating detailed descriptions of business operations into rich visual narratives
- Workflow development / augmentation (human pathways through a transaction)
- Wireframes (screen schematics reflecting the details of information architecture)
- Operational modeling and data visualization diagramming
- Aesthetics (full color screen simulations, complete with typefaces, colors, state changes and other interaction patterns)
- Information design and data visualization diagramming (distilling complex information into insightful visualizations)
- UI specifications (screen layout, system responses, interaction patterns, accessibility guidelines, and technology considerations)
- Client work is primarily in NYC and North Jersey, with travel as needed by project engagement.
CONSULTING SKILLS and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Excellent time management skills including the ability to work simultaneously across several projects
- Follow established design and consulting team procedures, and assist with the development of new procedures
- Effectively build professional relationships with colleagues and clients
- Informally mentor less experienced consultants, contributing to the ongoing growth of the team
- Contribute creative ideas to further the project work and direction of client projects
- Contribute to and help foster a climate where alternative ideas and approaches are encouraged
- Demonstrate flexibility in response to changing work / project requirements and situations
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 5 years of experience creating intuitive workflow-driven solutions (user interface design for websites, mobile devices, business systems, and other applications), with a portfolio of work that demonstrates the level of experience
- Excellent visual designer does not need to have UI/UX experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Passion for user experience and an advocate for the user
- Knowledge of data visualization
COMPENSATION:
- Salary commensurate with experience +/- $120,000 per annum

EDUCATION:
- BFA or BS degree in design- including graphic, industrial, communication design and architecture- or significant experience working in a design field.
