We are currently seeking applications for Senior Service Designer within the Organisational Development and Operations department based in 4 Atlantic Quay, Glasgow, G2 8JX and Victoria Quay, Edinburgh, EH6 6QQ. This is a permanent and pensionable appointment and new entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range. Candidates with a disability who meet the essential criteria below will be invited to the assessments.
DDat Pay Supplement
This post attracts a £4,000 Digital Data and Technology Pay Supplement after a 9 month competency qualifying period. Pay supplements are temporary payments designed to address recruitment and retention issues caused by market pressures and are subject to regular review.
Overview
The Smith Commission proposed the devolution of significant welfare powers to the Scottish Parliament. Many of these powers are set out in the new Scotland Act. Once fully enacted, social security benefits in excess of £2.7bn will be transferred from the UK Parliament, including powers to create Scottish benefits for those of working age. This will allow the Scottish Government to establish many elements of a Scottish social security system.
This vacancy sits within the Programme Management & Delivery Division Service Design team who work with our delivery teams to design the end to end journey of our services.
Qualifications Required
For jobs in Band B & C you must hold a minimum of 3 Highers or equivalent or relevant experience.

Essential Criteria
1. Experience in a digital service design setting, designing and delivering a wide range of service design activities including: support team members to understand the value of design, negotiating design briefs and service developments, leading service design activates, and delivering service outcomes based on user, staff and organisational needs.
2. Ability to choose and apply appropriate user-centred design methods (from data gathering, idea &concept generation, and prototyping) for different design life cycle phases and situations.
3. Ability to communicate design approaches and insights effectively in such a way as to stimulate conversation and collaboration.
4. Knowledge of other user centred design practices and experience of collaborating with them for service delivery.
