Service Designer

This is the ideal post for a service designer wanting to gain lots of experience to develop and grow. It’s a job rich in opportunity to improve the user experience and outcomes for residents and businesses. You’ll be helping services radically transform to being person-centred and digital first. You will have the autonomy to make your mark as a service designer in an enabling and forward thinking local authority.

You will be working in an agile environment as part of our Rapid Improvement Team alongside Digital Developers, Business Analysts, Lead Service Designer and Project Manager. You will be working to drive change across a number of major services (such as Council Tax, Benefits, Housing and Planning) from initial scoping through to implementing and evaluating pilot projects.

This is a 1 year fixed term post, with the possibility that the contract will be extended. The role is hybrid, with around 1 day per week in our offices in Worthing or Shoreham.

Who we are looking for

You will have experience using service design approaches, and our ideal candidate would also have experience in user experience design.

You will have excellent communication skills, confidence to lead projects and be able to develop strong working relationships with colleagues from across the council. We are looking for someone who is quick to learn, curious and good at zooming in to see the detail and out to see the bigger picture.
