Senior Service Designer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Service Designer to use their specialist design skills and knowledge of Tikanga Māori to help improve and shape the National Quarantine Service (NQS)
MIQ is a critical part of our border measures to keep COVID-19 out of Aotearoa. We are now continuing work to design and build a system to ensure New Zealand is ready to respond to future incidents and ensure that New Zealanders are kept safe.

The successful candidate will be offered a fixed term or secondment opportunity for up to twelve months and will enjoy contributing to the success of a team and who will work specifically on the NQS Programme. Along with experience in providing sound cultural advice and strong relationships, the successful candidate will display a high level of agility and adaptability to the changing needs of the team.
You will be responsible for bringing extensive experience of service design thinking and advice to the programme to ensure that priorities are met. We are interested in ensuring that the complete end-to-end service is considered holistically, but we may need to take less traditional paths to achieve this due to the rapid and evolving environment we find ourselves in.
Working with multi-agency teams in partnership you will be the conduit for translating this strategic plan into reality, and supporting the delivery teams to execute the NQS business requirements in accordance with intended outcomes.

Skills and experience required:
- A proven track record of experience and success in providing Service Design projects
- Evidence of strong Tikanga Māori principles in your previous work
- An innovative and experimental approach to service design tools and techniques
- A solutions focussed mind-set and someone who enjoys unique challenges and varied opportunities
- Demonstrated agility in responding to changes in priorities
- Excellent attention to detail, ability to multi-task and work well under pressure
- Initiative and a proactive approach to work supporting by strong judgment and decision making ability
- Great relationship management skills with confidence in dealing with a wide range of people
