Senior Service/UX Designer

Note on Assignment Type

This position is provisionally Hybrid, requiring 7.25 hours per calendar day between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday (excluding breaks). Conditions may change based on organizational requirements and at the discretion of the Hiring Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead human-centred design activities across ASHC digital services.
  • Plan and conduct user research, interviews, workshops, usability testing, and discovery activities.
  • Develop journey maps, service blueprints, and future-state service models.
  • Create UX deliverables including information architecture, user flows, wireframes, and prototypes.
  • Design accessible, responsive user interfaces for web and enterprise platforms.
  • Develop and maintain enterprise design systems and design standards.
  • Apply WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards throughout the design lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Business Analysts, Developers, Architects, and QA teams.
  • Facilitate workshops, design thinking sessions, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Support developer handoff, design QA, and validation activities.
  • Measure user outcomes and drive continuous service improvement.

Mandatory Requirements / Job Specs

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive UX, UI, and Service Design experience in complex enterprise environments.
  • Minimum 5 years supporting digital transformation initiatives within government, public sector, crown corporations, or comparable environments.

Education

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in:
  • Interaction Design
  • Human Computer Interaction (HCI)
  • Product Design
  • User Experience Design
  • Industrial Design
  • Graphic Design
  • Computer Science
  • Related discipline

Required Skills

  • Human-Centred Design (HCD) methodologies.
  • Design Thinking.
  • User research and usability testing.
  • Service design and service blueprinting.
  • Persona development and journey mapping.
  • Information architecture.
  • User flows, wireframes, and interactive prototypes.
  • Enterprise digital platform design.
  • Enterprise design systems and component libraries.
  • Accessibility compliance (WCAG 2.2 AA).
  • Agile delivery methodologies.
  • Stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation.
  • Design QA and developer collaboration.
