The Service Designer is a part of the Experience Design team at Intermountain Healthcare and has specific expertise and education in working with design processes to understand, build, and deliver services, workflows, and/or other products. In partnership with researchers and analysts who define unmet needs of consumers, you will design consumer experiences supported by consumer data, develop and define key metrics and measurements to support future iterations of the designs, and evaluate their impact.

Our department has recently been reorganized, and we are building enterprise service design capacity with a focus on large scale service design projects.

The positions is a full time, remote, salaried position. Normal business hours are 8:00 – 4:30 MST, with room for flexibility. Some travel will be necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in design, strategy, business, analytics, social science or a related college major involving business acumen and critical thinking. Education must be obtained through an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.
  • Three years of design experience.
  • Knowledge of and experience with qualitative research methods and project facilitation (including ethnography, interviews, and focus groups).
  • Experience working independently and effectively without close supervision, while consulting and coordinating with other team members or stakeholders.
  • Experience in a role requiring highly effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and experience managing and prioritizing several projects at the same time.
  • Experience leading positive change, creating new processes, or building new solutions based on evidence from best practices.
  • Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet and e-mail, and scheduling applications.

Experience communicating, collaborating, and analyzing data in a high stress environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of training/work service design.
  • Experience in a similar role within healthcare or health insurance industry.
  • Creative portfolio demonstrating your previous service design work.
  • Demonstrated experience developing service prototypes, blueprints, and storyboards that showcase multiple concepts quickly, with an acute understanding of what customer and business problems they solve and how they might be delivered.
  • Strong knowledge of collaboration facilitation and research methodologies, Miro, Figma, Figjam, Adobe Creative Cloud, or similar tools and a strong desire to always learn more.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and a willingness to adapt and customize them as needed.
  • Experience working with and contributing to established brand guidelines, style guides, and code-based design systems.
  • Ability to work from low fidelity to high fidelity.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within cross-disciplinary teams.
