Senior Service Designer

As a Service Designer, you will work collaboratively with Pilots, Subject Matter Experts, and our Government partners to drive how teams of collaborative combat aircraft are tasked and commanded during operations. Insights from your work will have an immediate impact on how Anduril builds technology for the modern warfighter. From customer immersion to synthesizing feedback, engineering workshopping to shipping high craft experiences, you will leverage your expertise to solve challenging problems in complex warfighter scenarios.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Lead discovery workshops with customers and SMEs to define the ideal workflows and interactions between pilots and teams of combat collaborative aircraft.
- Partner with Anduril’s engineering team to drive the overall user experience of commanding teams of collaborative aircraft through mission autonomy.
- Contribute to the overall direction and decision making for AD&S product and design strategy.
- Conduct primary research such as field studies, interviews, workshops, and usability testing.
- Synthesizing research into easy-to-understand artifacts such as user journey maps, service blueprints, and interaction workflows.
- Use storytelling to inspire and align partners and key stakeholders.
WHO YOU ARE
- You are a self starter. You are well-versed in how to facilitate user research and alignment and can do so independently.
- You are a strong facilitator. You are able to advocate for the importance of Service Design and include engineers, Government customers, and representative users in the process.
- You are a strong engineering partner. You are great at working with engineers to implement the designers and service blueprints you come up with.
- You have a high bar. You craft high quality artifacts that are easy to understand by engineers and stakeholders of the work. You relentlessly seek to understand the user’s use case and to advocate for how technology should integrate into their workflow.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 8+ years of experience leading user research, facilitation and service design efforts of nascent or new technologies.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in the Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Psychology, Cognitive Science, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Design, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Portfolio or detailed case study that shows the impact your research and process has had on product outcomes.
- Must be able to possess and maintain a U.S. Top Secret clearance.
- Desired location is Anduril HQ in Costa Mesa, CA, although Washington D.C. will be considered for a exceptional candidates who are willing to travel as needed to complete work (anticipate 50-80%). Relocation assistance is available.
