Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with design team members and stakeholders to understand business needs and user requirements.
  • Participate in user research and user testing activities to gather insights and inform design decisions.
  • Contribute to the creation of service design deliverables, such as user journey maps, service blueprints, and prototypes.
  • Help develop and refine service design methodologies and processes.
  • Support the development of design presentations and reports for clients and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to design sprints and ideation sessions.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and best practices in service design and related fields.

Required Experience:

  • 1-3 years of experience in service design or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in user research and design thinking methodologies.
  • Proficiency in design software and tools, such as Figma, Sketch, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and manage time effectively.

Grade Skills & Skill Level:

Core:

  • Stays up-to-date with emerging technologies and design trends
  • Basic understanding of service design principles and methodologies
  • Designs systems for use across multiple services and can identify the simplest of a variety of approaches used
  • Familiarity with design software and tools
  • Assist with the creation of service design deliverables, such as user journey maps and service blueprints.
  • Support the design team in conducting research and gathering insights to inform service design decisions.
  • Participates in user engagement activities
  • Supports or hosts difficult discussions within the team or with diverse stakeholders
  • Conducts user research and analyses user needs
  • Manages and visualises outcomes, prioritises work and adheres to agreed minimum viable product (MVP), priorities and scope

Leadership:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Participates in agile development processes and ceremonies, such as daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives
  • Brings people together to form a motivated team and helps create the right environment for a team to work in
  • Identifies issues through Agile ‘health checks’ with the team, and helps to stimulate the right responses

Functional:

  • Basic knowledge of user research and testing methodologies
  • Uses different types of prototyping methods
  • Basic knowledge of design thinking and ideation techniques
  • Basic understanding of visual design principles
  • Identifies and uses the best processes or delivery methods, including measuring and evaluating outcomes
  • Identifies and prioritises service touchpoints
  • Manages service design of product and timelines
  • Assist with usability testing and user interviews.
  • Develops user personas and customer journey maps
  • Adapts feedback to ensure it’s effective and lasting

Cross-Functional:

  • Manages stakeholders’ expectations
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to identify business objectives and goals
  • Collaborates with developers to ensure design integrity during development
  • Basic understanding of business and marketing principles
  • Builds partnerships with external service providers
  • Facilitates design sprints and workshops to generate ideas and foster collaboration
  • Works in a group, actively networking with others
  • Works with other designers to ensure consistency and coherence across the product portfolio
  • Builds relationships with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and coordination
