Service Designer

Nomensa
As a world class strategic UX agency, Nomensa has been helping clients create innovative and inclusive digital experiences since 2001. Our services and designs place every human at the heart of every product, device, app and service we create. With Bristol, London and Amsterdam locations, and client wins across the commercial, charity, and government sectors we continue to grow.
This growth means we have a mix of exciting and varied permanent and freelance Service Designer opportunities at midweight and senior level. If the idea of working on important projects where your work could reach millions of people and help design better, accessible services, then we’d love to hear from you.
What You’ll Be Doing
Your focus is on transforming the service delivery journey for our clients to improve and simplify their users’ experience. You’ll be working closely with your colleagues across the whole spectrum of the delivery team in an agile development environment to analyse where there are opportunities to improve, reduce costs and design for better.
You’ll be prototyping designs based on the findings of user data across diverse, inclusive user groups and with feedback from stakeholders. You’ll use these sources of feedback alongside other research sources to develop best in class solutions.
Ultimately, the work you’ll be doing improves the digital experience for every user.
Why you’ll love us
We aim to have a supportive environment where we are all inspired to do our best work, where we respect, collaborate and learn from each other. We have an amazing variety of projects and clients in the commercial, charity, and government sectors and there is always scope to develop your knowledge, skills and experience.
We’ve got a fantastic culture we want to keep evolving. We have achieved the Gold Standard Investors in People award (not easy!) and encourage everyone to be involved, to share their ideas and shape our business. We are inclusive and ultimately want you to be successful and happy, and to live our values – think bigger, be bold, be human.
Requirements
You have a successful track record and breadth of experience in designing digital services, which is likely to be underpinned by a relevant design based degree although this is not essential. Experience of working in a fast-paced agency is useful but also not essential.
You’ll be able to demonstrate how you can explain design concepts and ideas in ways clear to multiple audiences and in managing and influencing senior stakeholders expectations. You understand the value of user research data and use this to inform and simplify the accessible services you design. You are comfortable working in an agile environment and you collaborate effectively with others to achieve high quality results. You are a strong team member and equally happy working independently.
The client is at the centre of what you do and you balance their needs with those of your business and team/s. You love to solve a problem and are both creative in how you do this and adaptable in responding to new issues when needed, always without compromising delivery. You excel with detail focus but readily move to big picture thinking and are adept at joining these ways of thinking together. You enjoy those opportunities to get involved beyond your day-to-day to give yourself stretch and to keep learning.
Any experience of working with or within Government (ideally to GDS standards) would be particularly useful. There are opportunities for senior roles too, so if you also have experience of taking a lead role, working with complex stakeholders and mentoring others for example, please include this in your application.
