Service Designer

You will be the Service Designer in the OMOP software team, translating high-level business requirements into end-to-end services and products, creating user stories and influencing the product roadmap as part of the product team. You will work with an individual scrum team to make the product vision a reality and in doing so, shape the future of real-world patient data.
Working with a team of specialists you will help design the end-to-end journey of a service. This helps the user complete their goal and businesses meet their objectives.
What to expect
In this role, you will:
- Support the development of the OMOP Factory product roadmap, including functionality, UI/UX and data visualizations
- Translate high-level requirements into detailed user stories that the development team can execute against, writing “Given / When / Then” scenarios to aid a BDD approach
- Work with the product owner to prioritize stories in the product backlog
- Review test plans and verify they map back to requirements
- Support software implementations, acting as a product expert for users and monitoring user requirements
- Support the sales and testing process, eg, with prototypes
- Identify needs and engage with users or stakeholders to collate user needs evidence.
- You understand and can define research that fits user needs.
- You can use quantitative and qualitative data about users to turn user focus into outcomes
Our ideal candidate will be / have
- Able to explain design decisions, work collaboratively and have responsibility for a service
- Independently identify user issues and important needs
- Strong experience in digital service design
- Experience with Agile software development methodologies
- Results-oriented with a focus on delivery
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic and hard-working
- You can translate technical information and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- You know how to facilitate discussions within a multidisciplinary team, with potentially difficult dynamics.
- You can act as an advocate for your team. You are good at managing differing perspectives.
- You are responsive to changes in technology, adapting your approach accordingly.
- You can make decisions to meet user needs
- You are committed to agreed good practice for the team, teaching new starters and challenging substandard work by peers.
- You can recommend decisions and describe the reasoning behind these.
- You can identify and articulate technical disputes between direct peers and local stakeholders.
- You know about the importance of team dynamics and collaboration.
- You understand the importance of feedback.
- Evidence- and context-based design. You can generate multiple solutions to a problem and test them
Bonus points for
- Experience in life sciences / healthcare sector
- Experience of working within constraints. You understand the value of constraints and find the simplest, shortest and fastest solution for users.
- Experience with data products or data standards
