Service Design Coordinator

This post is available immediately on a fixed-term basis until August 2021 and will be providing management of the University’s IT service design team, overseeing the IT service catalog and IT service definition.  This is a full-time role but we would also welcome applications from candidates interested in working part-time hours or job-sharing arrangements.

This role can be remotely based anywhere in the UK through the South-West would be a preference.

The role manages the team defining all aspects of an IT service and its requirements through each stage of its lifecycle including the availability of IT services, the capacity of the IT service and infrastructure to deliver agreed service level targets and ensure business continuity is managed effectively.

You will be responsible for; ensuring a holistic and integrated approach to service design, working with architects and subject matter experts to develop the Service Design Package, managing the delivery of quality, secure and resilient designs, and leading a team who work with the architects, business analysts and the business to define IT service level agreements and targets, and ensure the capacity of the IT service and infrastructure is able to deliver agreed service levels.

As the focus of the role is on managing the team, we are looking for individuals who have been in an IT management role.  We also expect the following qualifications:

• Detailed understanding of information and digital technologies.
• Proven communication skills demonstrating the ability to understand complex conceptual ideas and experience in conveying information to senior stakeholders
• Proven ability to interact across cross-functional and technical working teams and build ongoing relationships to ensure effective communications and exchange of information.
• Proven ability to take independent decisions without reference to your line manager relating to significant events, or influence decision-making that impacts resourcing and future business planning of the service.
• Good planning and organization skills.
• Excellent methodical, analytical (qualitative and quantitative) and problem-solving skills
