Principal Service Designer

Hippo Digital is recruiting for principal consultants in service design.

Service designers facilitate the creation or improvement of services that align user and business needs.

As well as being a champion of user-centred design, you’ll ensure that service design teams take a strategic approach, deliver high quality outputs (workshops, assets, proposals etc) . You will manage relationships between the different agencies involved in designing a service to support the teams’ delivery.

You’ll have a strong understanding of Agile methodology and how the different members of an Agile team contribute to the overall delivery of the service.

Hippo’s principal consultants in service design are experts in their field, supporting teams and clients at a strategic level. You will have extensive experience coaching and mentoring people through service design approaches and tools. What you’ll do

• Act as engagement lead or site delivery lead for projects and support new business activity
• Provide expert advice on the role of service design tools and techniques
• Lead collaboration and co-creation activities with clients and colleagues within Hippo
• Ensure services are inclusive, usable, technically feasible and commercially viable
• Have accountability for the client’s objectives and be able to assign responsibilities to teams
• Ensure knowledge transfer will be effective to enable service delivery and that suitable techniques or methods are being used
• Recruit, coach and support the professional development of a range of disciplines
• Contribute to the bids and resource allocation processes

You will be an expert at designing and improving services and managing complex stakeholder relationships. With broad industry experience, you will have advanced knowledge of a wide range of design approaches, with experience in more than one design discipline. You will understand the main industries currently generating demands for service design and how that fits with developing Hippo’s business strategy.

You will also have:

• Experience of developing people within the Service Design profession
• Extensive experience of managing senior stakeholder relationships to overcome challenges to enable service delivery
• Extensive experience presenting your work and influencing clients
• The confidence to manage relationships effectively, building long-term, strategic partnerships
• Advanced experience in Agile and the GDS Digital Standard
