KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Service Design

  • Devise, drive, and deliver service design projects to plans agreed with clients
  • Conceive and facilitate client, stakeholder and user workshops based on best practice service design principles and following DK&A’s own methods and practices
  • Develop and deliver design-led research working closely with our Head of Research. This will typically feature in the discovery and deliver stages
  • Shape design recommendations and develop concepts, prototypes and MVPs backed by evidence and, where relevant, detailed business cases
  • In collaboration with the Senior Service Designer, manage and maintain our knowledge bank of creative collateral for consultancy projects incl. documenting and maintaining accurate records of research processes, project outputs and case studies

Project management & client servicing

  • Contribute to pitches and winning work including supporting the consulting and business development teams on client diagnostics and the development of proposals.
  • Develop detailed innovation and design programme plans in collaboration with the Studio Manager and consulting team
  • Mobilise and deliver a mix of projects under supervision including reporting on quality, time and budget
  • Support the Senior Service Designer to manage a portfolio of service design and innovation projects and clients.

Personal and business growth

  • Play an active role within DK&A as a learner and an educator. This may involve attending our own courses and also contributing as a coach, facilitator or instructor.
  • Working closely with the Senior Service Designer and MD, continuously develop our products and services to meet the needs of our clients and ensure we’re competitive in an ever changing market

ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCE

We are a looking for someone who thrives in a busy environment and is comfortable collaborating with a variety of stakeholders. You have a background in Service Design and hands-on experience in developing and delivering innovation projects at scale for business. You will also have solid experience and confidence in communicating directly with senior and exec client stakeholders. The role has responsibility for researching, developing, defining and delivering complex innovation projects. Working in a cross-functional team, the role will connect multiple work streams to solve systemic problems and deliver compelling and high quality solutions.

The role will suit a mid-weight designer.  We will consider applications from Senior Designers. A junior designer would need to prove exceptional experience and performance with clear evidence they are transitioning in their career.

  • A Degree or equivalent in Service Design, Innovation Design, Design Thinking or similar related studies
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in providing innovation consultancy services to businesses; either as part of an internal team or as an external consultant, with a track record of practical application of Service Design principles and methodologies on projects delivering impactful results and ROI for your clients
  • Ability to lead on the end-to-end service design process from framing design challenges, to research and synthesis, building concepts and implementation
  • You are a hands-on designer and able to mentor and guide others in your area of expertise
  • You have experience in solving real-world problems for business through building design strategies, conducting complex ethnographic research and developing final outputs
  • You are able to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team
  • You are experienced in, and confident with, senior and exec client and stakeholder engagements
  • You are able to build compelling narratives and comfortable presenting these to stakeholders and clients
  • You are able to independently manage workflow and meet tight deadlines
  • You are numerate and familiar with managing budgets as well as research data
  • Proficiency in Adobe CC
  • Familiarity with building presentations in Keynote
  • Good skills in graphic design
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English

 Desirable

  • Proficiency in Figma/Sketch
  • Interest in tech and sustainability

REMUNERATION AND BENEFITS

Remuneration

  • Full time role on a 12-month fixed-term contract and expectation to extend
  • Annual salary of between £35,000-£38,000 depending on experience

  • 37.5-hour work week, Monday to Friday
  • Flexible work hours around core hours 9:00 – 16:00

7. LOCATION

This role is based at our studio in Wandsworth, SW18. We have an attractive, light studio with good facilities including shower, bike parking and high-quality shared meeting and kitchen facilities. All necessary hard- and software will be provided on appointment.
