Lead Service Designer

About The Role

NHS Digital are currently looking for a Lead Service Designer to work in our critical business area, the Platforms Directorate. In joining Platforms, you will be at the heart of designing the core infrastructure that connects the thousands of digital service providers across the UK’s health and care system.

You will have an exciting opportunity to support our vision to deliver a user-centred modern platform approach to our products and services that result in better care and improved health outcomes from people in England. You will be working as the Lead Designer developing the design capability across the directorate.

You will play a highly strategic and diplomatic role, working with a diverse array of internal and external stakeholders such as trusts, arms lengths bodies and key partners such as NHS X and System Suppliers. You will be ready to explain, support and question policy and will work with Platforms teams to guide and influence discussions across the broader service design space.

As An Expert Service Designer, You Will

• represent the design profession at organisational level and be part of senior leadership meetings and discussions.
• translate strategic organisational goals into objectives that can be understood by designers.
• use research evidence and design knowledge to negotiate with senior stakeholders, to achieve positive health outcomes for the public.
• advocate for inclusive practices across the organisation and wider health & care system translate strategic organisational goals into objectives that can be understood by designers.

You Will Be

About you

• an expert designer, with experience of setting the design direction for other designers to follow
• experienced in service design at a senior practitioner level, and have a solid understanding of interaction design
• specialised in user-centred design practices, with a focus on accessibility and inclusive design
• experienced in leading user-centred design in an agile, multidisciplinary teams
