Service Designer

Who we are – The role

Our Service Design team works within our Customer Experience unit to make Council services better for the people that use them. They deliver people focussed projects and improvements to services, through collaborating with other teams and ensuring diversity of thought aided by design thinking.

As a Service Designer within the Service Design team, you will aid in articulating our customers’ journey through our services; identify areas of improvement, integration, digitisation and propose fit-for-purpose solutions. You will plan and execute customer journey maps, process and system views, user stories and requirements, and work with our wider team to determine evidence-based service uplift specifications. You will help to generate and analyse meaningful insights and behavioural patterns to inform the achievement of Council priorities, and support collective efforts to improve the Council’s customers’ experiences.

Your focus will be within Smart Council’s Tutuki programme, which is about transforming how we design and deliver services to the people of Pōneke, through our channels. This programme aims to reimagine our services and build a framework for service delivery that’s slick and streamlined.

About you

You are a comfortable with ambiguity and confident to act on opportunities you find. You can see the big picture and translate this into action, bringing others along with you. You will work well in cross functional teams and are excited about learning about new subject areas. You will apply empathy, listen actively, and connect with others to support the Council to achieve its vision and priorities. Bonus if you have UX experience!
