As a Service Designer, you will be the master “dot connector” who has the hands-on knowledge of the needs and pains of our customers (both internal and external) to drive digital transformation at HeidelbergCement. You will be working with a multidisciplinary team of creative thinkers to shape products and services that exist in the digital and analog worlds. You will translate insights from the field into concepts that will be co-created with various stakeholders. You will be working closely with roles such as UX Researchers, Designers and Product Owners to facilitate discussion, moderate workshops and to equip the working teams with nuggets of knowledge from the field.

You will work with various product teams in HeidelbergCement. You will report to our Global Head of UX and Analytics. The position is located in Heidelberg, Germany.

Your next challenge

  • Create a strong understanding of the user and their context of use by performing user research and translating insights from the user’s omnichannel experience into tangible next steps for the product teams.
  • Influence deep changes in business processes beyond the digital experience.
  • Connect the dots between disparate experience landscapes by working at a 30k foot level to see the big picture, as well as at 3 ft level to nail down the important details.
  • Digest and distill business, customer/user constraints and challenges into artifacts that help the teams build empathy for their end-users.
  • Communicate and envision service concepts and ideas to various team members and stakeholders.
  • Design the e2e service blueprints and customer journeys to make sense of the end-user’s various channels and touchpoints in working with HeidelbergCement.
  • Use diverse set of methods and tools to illustrate the service design experience.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, requirements, documentation and presentations.
  • Be the go-to person for user insights that shed light on the user’s interaction before, during and after interacting with a product or a service.
  • Approach your work with a global mindset, ‘ecosystem thinking’ and advocate for user-centricity.
  • Be a champion for all-things UX.

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s / Master’s studies in the field of design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or related field of studies.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience as a UX Designer, or similar UX-centric role.
  • Experience within a relevant service design disciplines (Systems Design, Business Design).
  • Expertise in human-centered design thinking methods.
  • Fluency in both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills including the ability to present design concepts to colleagues, partners, stakeholders and especially to senior executives.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, clients, and key stakeholders.
  • Ability to plan and facilitate global co-creation workshops.
  • Experience in design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe suite etc.
  • Ability to travel (when possible given COVID-19 travel restrictions). ▪ Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excited to work in an international team with global impact.
  • Fluent in English.
  • UX portfolio or concrete examples of UX-led projects.
