Service Design Specialist
Zinc Network
Role overview
Zinc is looking for a Human-Centred Design / Service Design Specialist (2-4 years’ relevant experience) to join our regional Georgia team (working closely with the Strategy team based in London). You will report into Zinc’s Head of Strategy (UK-based) and Georgia Project Director. You will work mainly on our Georgia projects, which focus on strengthening independent media and countering disinformation, but may need to contribute to additional projects in different geographies. For example, as part of our Information Integrity Project, we have developed (i) a campaign calling out Georgian politicians for reinforcing Kremlin narratives about Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, (ii) a retail initiative supporting Georgian farmers living along the ABL [countering the Kremlin narrative that Georgians have forgotten about them] and (iii) a multi-generational music project challenging far-right narratives about what it means to be a Georgian patriot.
You will be responsible for designing and facilitating co-creation workshops [in Georgian and/or English] that engage a wide range of stakeholders (e.g. government, civil society, media, academia, private sector etc.) and lead to the development of innovative solutions to complex social issues. You will need to be (i) knowledgeable about design methodologies, frameworks and toolkits, (ii) have developed a set of creative techniques / exercises to help people understand problems and ideate creative solutions, (iii) be a strong facilitator, who can read the room, think on their feet, synthesise and communicate information quickly, drive the conversation forward and build consensus in the room. You will be familiar with digital tools such as Mural / Miro / Figma etc. and be able to facilitate sessions in person and online. You will help the Research team design research that supports effective co-creation sessions. Where possible – you will work with others to support prototyping and testing of new ideas and work closely with implementing partners to make these ideas through regular consultation.
Requirements
Our co-creation work typically results in new services, campaigns / experiences and sometimes products. Ideally, you will have experience designing for these different outputs. Experience designing communications campaigns / strategies (e.g. multimedia advocacy campaigns or internal communications) is desirable. You will need to have an interest in national and international politics and social change / movement building.
Languages needed: Georgian and English.
Geography: the role will to be based out of our Tbilisi office, but flexible working arrangements available. Travel may be required (domestically and internationally).
