The Nova Scotia Digital Service (NSDS) branch of the Department of Service Nova Scotia & Internal Services is a leader in client focused service delivery. This branch is responsible for all NS Government departments, agencies, boards and commissions’ technology services and support as well as supporting the NS Health Authority and IWK.

Reporting to the Manager of Human Centered Service Design, as the Program Admin Officer IV (Service Designer), you will one of a few Service Designers tasked with bringing a human side to the technology of government.
Assuming a leadership role, you lead the charge for developing services that are based off user input, meet business needs and are measurable, accessible and secure. In addition, you work closely with government departments to provide user input and trusted guidance for their technical projects and work efforts.
In this position, you understand all phases of the system development life cycle and perform tasks ranging from user interviews, wireframing and usability testing. You also play a key role in the evolution of the human centered service design practice and processes so that the practices and approaches used by this team can be adopted by other government bodies and groups.
To be successful in this role, you have graduated from a recognized university with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Design, plus a minimum of three (3) years related experience, or graduated from a recognized Information Technology Diploma program in addition to three and a half (3.5) years’ experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
You hold exceptional inter-personal skills and are effective at building positive and trusted client relationships and collaborating with project partners. You possess superior written and verbal skills which ensure effective leadership and direction. Interviewing, analysis and report writing skills are also critical for this position.
You have a solid understanding of design and user research methodologies and are comfortable working in an agile environment.
We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Pay Grade: PR 17
Salary Range: $2,899.00 – $3,404.00 Bi-Weekly
