Missions
The design BU has a transversal mission to the various departments of the agency and its designers support the various internal teams in the concrete transformation of their activities, services and products.
To do this, the BU places the user at the center of reflection, uses collaborative design methods and offers levers / recommendations for the creation of high added value services.
In parallel to its support activity, the design BU participates in the development of a culture of innovation in the agency by initiating, equipping and stimulating a “Design experience”.
Within the Design Business Unit, the missions of the Service Designer are as follows:
- Designing the agency’s public services.
- Occasionally coach teams around collective intelligence.
- Facilitate the dissemination and integration of the culture of innovation.
- Main activities
Support for support activities in public service design:
- Audit of the support request and definition of methodological roadmaps.
- Creation / choice of the design process used during the support.
- Targeting and diagnosis of uses, users and context.
- Synthesis, data analysis.
- Definition of the design challenge.
- Organization, animation of panels and co-creation workshops.
- Prototyping and testing of services.
- Proposal of new public services, production of blueprints and recommendations for change support.
Support for BU design projects
- Implementation and continuous improvement of the design tools (methods and processes) necessary to support the teams.
- Implementation of an initiation pack to collective intelligence.
- Creation of a toolbox accessible to agency employees: collective intelligence methodology, creativity modules, innovation platform, library of personas, catalog of internal skills, catalog of services, etc.
- Management of internal projects at the BU.
- Design and public innovation watch: collection and dissemination tools, research content and indicators, inventory of available resources, etc.
specific skills
- Fluency in French or Dutch; good knowledge of the other language is an asset.
- Fluency in English is an asset.
- Broad knowledge of the principles of design thinking, project design and open innovation.
- Knowledge of different forms of innovation: social, product, services and uses, process and organization, business models, marketing and sales.
- Knowledge of the challenges and operating principles of the public service, entrepreneurial and urban development in Brussels and its ecosystem is an asset.
- Interest in the principles of economic transition and sustainable economy.
- Design and practice of service design and collective intelligence methodologies (design sprint, blueprint, empathy map, customer journey, brainstoming, etc.).
- Deployment and management of innovation.
- Ux / Ui knowledge is an asset.
- Participation in the creation and maintenance of a friendly, cooperative and respectful working environment.
- Compliance with governance rules (management tools, procedures, etc.) of the Agency.
- Creative, the Service Designer knows how to recognize and develop ideas with high potential.
- Human, he listens with empathy to users in the innovation process and knows how to recognize weak signals.
- Open and curious, he is interested in new avenues and ideas for innovation.
- With good interpersonal skills, he / she knows how to build a climate of trust with users and lay a working basis conducive to the creation of ideas.
- Critical, he / she knows how to bring a divergent point of view to best support the development of ideas and the construction / adaptation of services.
- Synthetic, he · she knows how to convey relevant information to his audience.
- Rigorous, he / she respects the deadlines and the level of requirement of the expected work.
- Input profile
- Hold a master’s degree preferably with a service design, innovation management or equivalent orientation.
- If you obtained your diploma abroad, please send us its equivalence recognized by one of the communities of the Belgian State.
- A minimum of 2 year (s) of experience in a similar function is an asset.
