User Experience and Service Designers

About the role

We’re looking for 2 designers to join our team of researchers, strategists, designers, developers and changemakers. You’ll work as part of our successful and established human-centred design consultancy team, and contribute to digital innovation in South Australia.

Human-centred design is a broad framework and our strategy and design team at Atomix include a range of research, design, facilitation, project management and stakeholder engagement skills. We don’t believe in design unicorns but we believe in bringing together people with diverse sets of skills and experience that complement each other. So while experience with a broad skill set of human-centred design methodologies is important, we don’t expect you to be a superstar with all of them.

In the role, you could be planning, scoping, preparing and conducting quantitative and qualitative research with customers. You could be designing and facilitating workshops and other design collaboration methods. You could be head down in analysing business and customer data, creating user journeys, rapidly prototyping and iterating on solutions, or zooming out to the bigger picture writing strategy and flexing your communication design skills with stakeholders. It really depends on you and where you see your strengths fit within the multidisciplinary team of designers and subject matter experts across our project portfolio.

You’re the relentless advocate for the customer and passionate about human-centred design. You can comfortably shift between practitioner, mentor and teacher to help others grow their skillset.

Qualities of our ideal candidate

• 3+ years experience in a role that is integral to the design process, for example, Service Design, Customer/User Research, User Experience Design, Interaction Design etc.
• Sound knowledge and experience applying human-centred design and innovation methodologies to solve problems and transform customer experiences (with case studies you can share)
• Experience planning and carrying out research throughout the design process, including analyses and synthesis of findings, insight development and communication to team and stakeholders.
• Comfortable communicating design including outputs such as customer journey maps, service blueprints, user journeys and prototypes.
• Previous experience working within an in-house enterprise or government design and delivery team or in an agency / consulting environment, integrating the design process into agile teams.
• Developed emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage, motivate and help multiple teams and clients in their deliveries.
• A strategic thinker, comfortable evolving complexity and ambiguity into effective (and pragmatic) solutions and communicating it with compelling stories with stakeholders.
