The Service Designer plays a leading strategic role in improving the overall digital experience at UTS. Typically, a Service Designer will take on active responsibility for a broad “slice” of experience (for example “Student experience” or “Staff Experience”) and they ensure that all initiatives and programs impacting that slice will positively uplift the end-user experience.
In this role, you will;
• Continuously advocate for a diverse range of customers and end-users, and champion inclusion across all relevant programs.
• Lead and oversee complex end-to-end experience across multiple Agile Release Trains (ARTs) and interconnected programs of Human-Centred Design (HCD) initiatives.
• Identify strategic areas for improvement and recommend approaches to continuously uplift the university’s HCD maturity.
• Establish influential relationships with a range of senior stakeholders across the University and partner with them to instil a customer-centric approach to planning and delivery.

About You
As the Service Designer, you will have:
• Extensive experience as a Service Designer and demonstrated experience applying HCD principles and practices in a complex environment.
• Ability to think strategically and align research activities and design solutions to desirability, viability and feasibility, considering long term implications and emerging technologies.
• In depth understanding and knowledge of the various research methods and their strategic application for gaining insights into user behaviours, preferences, and pain points, resulting in informed design decisions.
• Demonstrated proficiency in applying design thinking principles and experience in creating user personas, journey maps, service blueprints, prototypes and customer-centric design artefacts.
• Proven experience presenting design solutions to diverse stakeholders in a clear and concise manner, fostering understanding among cross-functional teams.
• Outstanding critical thinking and problem-solving skills including capacity to identify complex design challenges and develop innovative solutions.
• Superior communication and presentation skills that are clear and effective, with the ability to persuade, influence and negotiate to enable successful business outcomes.
• Proven experience designing and facilitating workshops and discussions to drive productive and inclusive collaboration among stakeholders.
• Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple projects/tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative
