Service Designer

The Human Centred Design Team establish end to end HCD capability to bring the voice of users to the centre of policy decisions to build policy effectiveness, improve compliance, cost effectiveness and risk reduction and to build trust in government services.
We support the department with cohesive end to end HCD practice, implementation of the Digital Service Standard 2.0 and insight centralisation and dissemination.
We are looking for individuals with skills across strategic design, innovation, and service design to be part of multi-disciplinary teams.
The Must Haves:
- Experience working in an Agile and multi-disciplinary team and have the ability to manage a high and quick-turnaround workload with limited supervision
- Demonstrated experience applying best practice approaches for service design and delivery process across products and services
- Demonstrated strong communication skills and ability to communicate design decisions to key stakeholders and the ability to build stakeholder relationships
- Desktop research skills
- User Research Knowledge and experience
- Deep understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methods
- Knowledge and experience in user research data management practices and standards
- Significant experience in user research analysis and synthesis approaches and processes
- Ability to translate research findings into actionable design insights.
- Experience with user journey mapping and be confident in their use of the Microsoft Suite as a minimum
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Actively engage and work with teams and stakeholders to shape the needs and strategy int perspective, in order to achieve the best outcome.
- Work closely with the ICT team to understand complexities and system parameters to support the development of the prototype and project work.
- Assist in the strategic direction, scope of program direction, and provide report.
- Create a blueprint or map of the proposed service
- Design the end-to-end service that meets user and agency needs through Identifying user needs and supporting the development of concepts and prototypes to test and validate with users and make decisions based on user research.
- Help the team to develop and iterate the service or product
- Actively participate in the research process, including research planning, preparation, facilitation, analysis, and synthesis
- Make sure the service and products are consistent for users and comply with standards and frameworks.
